The Last Week Of Summer For Many

There are thousands of families who today begin what for them is the final week of summer.  It’s the last week for kids to wake up when THEY wake up, last week not to worry about what clothes you are putting on, last week to hang out on the beach with friends and last week to stay up late and watch whatever you want on TV.

For parents it’s also the last week…in some cases they are very happy and others they are not.  It means especially for young kids they don’t have to worry about entertaining them throughout the day.  Mom and Dad can also go to the gym on their schedule and the same with shopping and more.  However for others it means having to get the kids ready before they go to work, juggling child care before and after school, making lunches and returning to life as an Uber driver with school, sports practice and more.

Of course if your children are at college or out of the house the difference between this week and next is hardly noticeable except for traffic and the presence of school busses on the road.  As for those of you retired and empty nesters…I’ll deal with you later another day.

So if for your family this really is the last week of summer then try and take advantage of it especially because it will likely be pretty quiet during the week. Maybe you’ve waited to go to Breakwater Beach at Casino Pier, Jenkinson’s Amusements, Fantasy Island or Thundering Surf on LBI…this is a good week for that.  Or any beach including Island Beach State Park which if you haven’t heard is free this summer.  There’s Allaire State Park and historic Allaire Village in Farmingdale, Monmouth Park which has live racing today and then from Friday through Labor Day.

The daily routine changes dramatically beginning next Tuesday for many so try and enjoy the week.
