I cannot overstate how much The Simpsons molded me as a person. This is not the place to argue about which seasons constitute the "Golden Age" or when the show got bad or whether or not there are good recent episodes - this is just a place to celebrate an iconic show that debuted THIRTY freaking YEARS AGO on December 17th, 1989.

Here's something I say about 99% of the time I'm on the road:

Fat Tony's "Jersey Muscle" resembled some other famous NJ mobsters.


Fun fact: the old running gag of Bart prank calling Moe's Tavern and Moe losing his mind and using increasingly-violent threats against Bart was based on something called "The Tube Bar Tapes", which were recordings of prank calls made to The Tube Bar in Jersey City, and the insane responses from the bar owner.
