Middletown South entered last week banged up, but kept winning thanks to players like junior Will Nugent stepping up to make key contributions every game.

Since a 0-4 start to the season, Middletown South has rattled off 11 straight wins, including back-to-back wins over Red Bank Catholic and Rumson-Fair Haven last week.

Middletown South's combination of a power running game and a tenacious defense led the Eagles past Winslow Township in the Central Jersey Group 4 semifinals.

Middletown South did not win a division game in 2021, but on the first day of the 2022 season, the Eagles sent shockwaves through the Shore with a stunning upset.
