The Winding River Skating Center in Toms River has become the official home of the Stockton University ice hockey team.

Toms River Township Hockey Director Dean Marusic says the addition of a college team will strengthen the youth hockey program:

It’s a great opportunity for local hockey players to remain local after high school, attend a great university like Stockton, and help attract even more kids into our hockey programs. It gives them the chance to learn, stay active and enjoy the great sport of hockey right here at the Jersey Shore."

Bob Gialanella, head coach of the Stockton Ospreys ice hockey team, said the school is very excited about the new partnership with Toms River.

Our partnership has provided Stockton University excellent ice and team facilities while offering a central location for recruiting student-athletes, many locally from the Shore Conference. We hope our move to Winding River Skating Center will help influence local talent to become the next generation of Osprey players."

The Stockton Ospreys compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association and the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference.
