Stealing two cars in two days lands a Manahawkin woman in jail
Stealing someone's running car and all the money inside by Leeward Road and Gaff Road in the Ocean Acres section of Stafford Township pins a set of charges on a Manahawkin woman Saturday.
Police say Brittney Johnson, 31, hopped in the unlocked 2002 white Hyundai Elantra around 2:43 pm and took off.
She was found a short time later by New Washington Avenue and arrested.
Johnson was also charged for stealing a 2014 black Honda Accord and the money inside that car last Thursday on Privateer Road.
The Accord was found Friday in a wooded area off of Hull Road..
Johnson stole and used one of the victim’s credit cards, and stole a small amount of cash from each vehicle.
She was charged with two counts of Theft of Moveable Property in the 3rd degree, one count of Theft of Moveable Property as a Disorderly Persons Offense, Burglary in the 3rd degree and Theft by Deception as a Disorderly Persons Offense.
Johnson is currently being lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
The public is reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations, and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
