A series of clipper systems will lead to a few minor bursts of snow for the Garden State, but there's nothing big in the short-term forecast.

Happy Monday, New Jersey! We are beginning this new workweek with some snow in South Jersey. And there are more snowflakes on the way in the coming days.

So far, Monday morning's minor snow event has behaved according to forecast. Bands of snow will continue traversing the area south of Interstate 195, potentially dropping 1 to 3 inches of accumulation by late morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory continues for Atlantic, southeastern Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, Salem counties until Noon Monday.

For Monday afternoon, scattered snow showers and even a heavier, visibility-limiting snow squall will be possible. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, and high temperatures will be seasonably cool near 40 degrees.

By Monday night, the snow threat will have ended completely, and the thick clouds should break apart a bit. Those breaks will contribute to some very cold temperatures by Tuesday morning, with forecast low temperatures mostly in the lower to mid 20s. I could see a few readings in the teens as well. It could be our coldest morning in about two weeks.

Another clipper system will aim for New Jersey on Tuesday. This time, North Jersey will end up in the bullseye, with a quick inch or two of accumulation possible (north of about Interstate 78). Best timing for the snowflakes will be midday, between about 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Otherwise, Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with highs ranging from 30 degrees to the north and near 40 degrees to the south.

Wednesday features a welcome warmup, to near 50 degrees in South Jersey. We'll also enjoy pleasant partly sunny skies. I just can't rule out a few showers, rain or snow. I am confident that the spread and impacts of Wednesday's precipitation will be far lower than on Monday and Tuesday.

A cooler air mass arrives on Thursday, so thermometers will drop once again. Highs will be limited to the 30s for the vast majority of New Jersey, with a stiff breeze and a mix of sun and clouds. Other than the refreshed early February chill, Thursday will remain quiet.

The quiet, chilly weather should continues for Friday and Saturday too. Look for partly to mostly sunny skies, with highs limited to the mid 30s at best.

We've been tracking a more significant storm system in the Sunday-Monday time frame. Still too far away for details, and it's still not a sure bet. (Specifically, the GFS shows multiple inches of snow for North Jersey, but the Euro shows hardly anything.) At this point, I'll just say it's worth watching - we'll keep you updated.
