Mendel Rosenfeld of Lakewood has started a Change.org petition, asking Governor Phil Murphy to increase the speed limit on the Garden State Parkway to 75 mph.

Rosenfeld says

By changing the speed limit on the Garden State Parkway and other NJ highways people will agree to travel further for a job which will lower unemployment rates.

I don't know if there is any research that backs up that claim, but if it results letting me drive faster, I'm down.

Rosenfeld also included this image, showing how the Northeast makes people drive slower than most of the country.

Most people take speed limits as suggestions, not rules, so 65 really means 75. If the law says 75, people are more likely to think they can hit 85. Right now the petition is just shy of 800, needing 1,000 to officially presented to Governor Murphy.

Do you support a raised speed limit?
