It's a cry for help, it's an addiction that bites the hand that feeds.

There has been a rash of child porn related crimes over the last few years in Ocean County, Monmouth County, and across the state of New Jersey as well.

Law enforcement agencies have been cracking down on this destructive and inappropriate behavior and are finding new investigative ways to stop it and prevent it.

It's always a curious pondering of why someone is so vested in gathering and distributing this illicit material.

In a 2018 interview with Townsquare Media-Jersey Shore, Dr. Ramon Solhkhah the chair of Psychiatry at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, gave some insight on the psyche of a sex offender pointing to, in part, that many of these individuals have a low I-Q and/or could be reliving a childhood trauma themselves.

"These were often people who were abused sexually as children themselves or people who experienced inappropriate sexual imagery early on...kids who may be saw porn too early or things like that," Solkhah said. "It sort of changes their normal sexual impulses and drives so we typically see that sort of come out in puberty."

It's something to think about.

A Lakewood Township man has been arrested again for child porn possession and has been charged as well, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said that 31-year-old Matthew Robles is charged with two counts of Distribution of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography and was previously been charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

When he was charged prior to this possession arrest, Robles was supposed to register as a Sex Offender under Megan's Law and report his address and his new job at a place in Brick Township to law enforcement, but he failed to do that as the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Megan’s Law Unit through their investigation.

Prosecutor Billhimer said that there were officers from the Division of Parole who went to Robles' residence on July 26 for a home visit and that's when and where they found child porn on his cell phone leading to his arrest and trip to the Ocean County Jail after violating his parole on multiple fronts.

His other electronic devices were searched and seized by law enforcement for forensic examination purposes as well, according to Billhimer, and two days later OCPO-High Tech Crime Unit Detectives executed a search warrant on those devices.

Detectives learned that Robles was uploading and sharing child porn images onto the internet by using WhatsApp, according to Billhimer.

This led to Robles being served with a complaint charging him with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender at the Ocean County Jail but then he was served with the other child porn related complaints three days later.

Robles will stay in jail until his detention hearing when further action will be decided.

NJ arrests 31 accused child predators in Operation 24/7

A roundup of 31 men have been accused of sexually exploiting children online, state Attorney General Gurbir Grewal announced on July 14 while detailing "Operation 24/7."

The suspects “possessed and or distributed videos and images of child sexual abuse, including in many cases videos of young children being raped by adults,” Grewal said.

Chat apps and gaming platforms remain favorite hunting grounds for child predators and even as the pandemic winds down, many children have continued to spend more time online.

State Police received 39% more tips in just the first 6 months of 2021 than they received in the entire year in 2019. The following are suspects charged in "Operation 24/7."
