Senior quarterback Nick Heckel tossed two touchdown passes and ran for another in his debut as starting quarterback as the Braves (1-0) opened the season by defeating the rival Patriots (0-1).
Heckel had a 1-hard touchdown run, threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Alex Dille, and tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to junior receiver Anthony Macchio. Senior kicker Michael Calton connected on a 27-yard field goal.
The Manalapan defense harrassed Freehold Township's Air Raid passing attack, including a sack and a forced fumble by senior Artem Reinikov-Jouk that senior Preston Birnie recovered in the end zone for a first-quarter touchdown. Reinikov-Jouk finished with two sacks while Macchio added an interception in the end zone that thwarted a Freehold Township scoring opportunity. Junior Aneesh Kuria also recorded a sack.
Sophomore running back Chase Enlow had a 2-yard touchdown run and Jacob Nastarowicz and Jayden Holmes-Cotter each recovered fumbles for Freehold Township.

Senior quarterback Andy Falletta had an 84-yard touchdown run and threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to senior running back Domenick Crisalli as the Rams (1-0) and their new triple-option offense rolled up over 400 yards rushing versus the United (0-1).
Sophomore running back Justin Silva added a 65-yard touchdown run and sophomore running back Dee Halm had a 7-yard touchdown run. Falletta ran for 92 yards and a touchdown on four carries and completed 2 of 4 passes for 40 yards and a touchdown. Halm ran for 71 yards and a score on 11 carries, The Rams totaled an astounding 414 yards rushing on an average of 9.4 yards per carry.
Junior linebacker Armando Sanchez led Southern's defense with eight tackles, a sack, and three tackles for loss, while sophomore defensive tackle Zach O'Brien recovered two fumbles and junior Matt Nolan intercepted a pass. The Rams' defense held United to 107 yards of offense.
Manville 30, Keyport 20
The Reid Raiders rallied from a 16-point deficit to close the gap to just three points in the fourth quarter, but Manville's Shawn Purcell scored his third touchdown of the game to clinch the victory for the Mustangs.
Following Purcell's 9-yard touchdown reception from Danny Wildgoose gave Manville a 16-0 lead in the second quarter, Keyport's Andrei Matthew returned a kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown to get the Raiders on the board. Junior running back Nazir Treadwell then scored on a 3-yard run to trim Manville's lead to 16-12 in the third quarter.
A touchdown run by Wildgoose in the third quarter put the Mustangs up 23-12 before Keyport responded again with an 84-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Ostervich to Mike Ford.

No. 2 Toms River North 28, Washington Township 21
Junior quarterback Micah Ford ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 86 yards and a touchdown to lead the Mariners (1-0) to a victory over the Minutemen (0-1).
Ford had scoring runs of 2 and 4 yards and also threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Tareq Council. Junior defensive back Jeremiah Pruitt accounted for Toms River North's fourth touchdown with a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter.
Council caught three passes for 48 yards and a touchdown while junior running back Josh Moore ran for 67 yards on 15 carries and also had a 17-yard reception.
Washington Township junior quarterback Jared Dziergowski ran for 105 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries, including a 64-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He added scoring runs of 4 and 2 yards in the second and fourth quarters, respectively. Dziergowski's second touchdown, which tied the game at 14 with 6:28 left in the first half, came after senior defensive lineman Jason Diblasio scooped up a fumble and returned it 50 yards down to the Toms River North 4-yard line.
A big hit by Washington Township linebacker Giuliano Scavetta on third and 1 forced Toms River North to punt with under two minutes left in the game, but the Mariners were able to close out the victory when Nasir Jackson intercepted a deflected pass and returned it 40 yards deep into Minutemen territory with under a minute to go.
No. 1 Red Bank Catholic 33, St. John Vianney 7
Making his first career start, sophomore quarterback Frankie Williams completed 8 of 10 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 34 yards and a touchdown as the Caseys (1-0) opened up a big lead early to defeat the Lancers (0-1).
On the first play of the game, Williams rifled a 74-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Robert Stolfa. Later in the first quarter, Williams threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Najih Rahman. The Caseys extended their lead to 20-0 on a 6-yard touchdown run by senior running back Sabino Portella.
RBC stretched its advantage to 26-0 in the second quarter when junior wide receiver Emanuel Ross took a screen pass and raced 55 yards for a touchdown. Williams capped the Caseys' scoring late in the first half when he scrambled for a 19-yard touchdown run.
Senior running back Torin Harmon ran for 45 yards on seven carries, Portella ran for 25 yards on four carries, Stolfa caught two passes for 91 yards, and Ross had two receptions for 69 yards.
The Caseys' defense recorded four sacks - Luke Wassef, Christian Ungemah, Evan Bielenda, and Jamie Gutridge - while senior linebacker Michael Palmieri had an interception that he returned 37 yards.
St. John Vianney broke the shutout early in the fourth quarter when Michael Foley threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Joey Marcelo on fourth and 10. Senior running back Christian Buchanan ran for a game-high 63 yards, 59 of which came in the second half, while senior wide receiver Kyle Verriest ran for 53 yards.
