It's been quite a long time since the green line was painted on the Boulevard in Seaside Heights.

The Ocean County St. Patrick's Day Parade is a hugely popular event that draws thousands.

Anticipation for the event was high due to the fact that COVID had forced the parade to be called off for the past two years. It's crazy that it's been that long.

It feels like just yesterday that I was hosting the parade after-party at Spicy's. At the time rumbles of COVID were being heard.

I distinctly remember one person wearing a mask at the event. I thought to myself "somebody is being a little over-cautious."

Little did I know that in the week following the parade that the state shut down and our lives would change forever.

On the official parade website, the countdown clock continues to wind down.

It currently says:

Unless there is torrential rain or a blizzard, the parade will kick off at noon.

Wednesday evening, the Seaside Heights, NJ Facebook page posted the following announcement.

Regrettably, Saturday's St. Patrick's Day Parade has been canceled due to severe weather expected Saturday. There are no plans for a postponement at this time. Watch this Facebook page, or these websites for updates: www.ocstpatricksdayparade.com/ or exit82.com
Please do not telephone the Borough of Seaside Heights, the Seaside Heights Business Improvement District, or the Parade Committee as this is all of the information that is available.

As of this writing, the forecast for Saturday is calling for rain, heavy at times, and gusty winds for most of the day.
Don't let your Irish eyes get all teary though. The parade has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 2. I don't mind this actually. The weather could be warmer. Hope I didn't jinx it.
If you still need your St. Patrick's Day fix this weekend, Asbury Park is doing their parade this Sunday.
We love Seaside Heights. Hopefully, it made this list!

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
