I used to hate the idea of running. It was my least favorite part of practice during my time playing different sports in my youth. I thought long distance runners were crazy people. Now? They have my utmost respect. Why? Because I am one of them now.

On Sunday November 20th, I will be running in the Philadelphia Half Marathon for Best Buddies charity. 13.1 miles on a cool, crisp (hopefully not rainy or snow) morning through the streets of Philadelphia isn't exactly relaxing on the weekend. Either way, I'm signed up and have been training for months to get through this.

I'll keep the Hawk listeners and 1057thehawk.com readers up to date on my progress over the next few weeks. This is training crunch time. If I sound winded or tired on the air Mon-Fri, it's probably because I ran 10 miles before coming to the studio that night.

Don't forget to give a watch to the New York City Marathon runners on Sunday morning. 26.2 miles is an outrageous accomplishment. I'm just hoping to make it half that in a few weeks.
