When the news broke yesterday of the tragic death of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman at the young age of 49, my heart truly sank. I've been a fan of the band since high school and it's another sad turn for an iconic band who helped shape the foundation of the metal thrash world.

The band made this statement regarding the tragic death of their bandmate Jeff Hanneman :

Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure.  He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

The rock world has come out in full force to share their thoughts prayers and feelings, you can see some of the reactions to Hanneman's death on social media by clicking HERE.

Hanneman, who helped compose such staples of the Slayer library such as 'Angel of Death,' 'Raining Blood,' and dozens of other Slayer hits, was one of the most amazing players.
