Sept 21, 2001 was the first day baseball resumed after the September 11th attacks on our country.

It was a strange day with the country trying to get things back to normal (as best as possible)

The Mets vs the Atlanta Braves was the first game to be played. There were security concerns. People were still shaken up. The country was still grieving heavily.

There was a pregame ceremony remembering all the victims that perished 10 days earlier.

I was watching the game at home on my couch, and as the game was being played,  I remember the stadium being quiet. Nothing really exciting was happening. There was no juice. No energy.

Untill the 8th inning.....

The Mets were down by one run and Mike Piazza stepped up to the plate.....
