How do you feel about not being able to pump your own gas in New Jersey?
It's one of the few things about the state that really annoys me; when I'm in a rush, the last thing I want to do is wait for an attendant to come over, take my payment, and then wait for them to come back over when the fuel is done pumping to remove the nozzle from my vehicle.
My wife however loves the fact that she can just say "20 on regular" and sit back and relax while her car fills up.
But have you ever thought what would happen if you said screw it, and just got out and started pumping your own gas in Jersey?
I've seen a few people with out-of-state plates pump their own gas, and I won't lie, I've thought about hopping out and doing it myself when a station is busy and it's taking forever to get back on the road.

Legally, you'll be issued a hefty little fine of anywhere between $50 and $250 for your first offense, and then up to $500 for each subsequent offense according to NJ.gov.
The person who really gets in trouble though would be the owner and operator of the gas station.
And those guys are already working pretty hard to get you in and out, so why cause a problem for them?
