Pedestrian killed trying to cross the road in Brick
One of two men trying to cross Herbertsville Road near Havens Farm in Brick around 6:00 pm on Monday night was hit by a car as he attempted to dodge traffic.
Brick Police say the two men began crossing the road to try and beat oncoming traffic.
One of the men fell behind and was hit by a White 2013 Volkswagen Jetta heading southbound on Herbertsville Road.
The vehicle veered off road and came to rest in a wooded area near Havens Farm.
The 26-year old driver and a passerby helped with CPR on the 51-year old pedestrian until police and first aid arrived on the scene.
The 51-year old man then succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Ptl. Thergesen and Ptl. Farnkopf of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
The names of the parties involved in the crash are being held until next of kin
notifications have been made.
