Ocean County Parents, Beware of Dangerous New TikTok Challenge
Make sure your kids aren't taking part in this potentially life-threatening "trend."

When will the dangerous TikTok challenges stop? After a felony TikTok challenge spread like wildfire earlier this month, there's another dangerous "trend" you need to be on the lookout for.
It's called the "Outlet Challenge," and yes - it's exactly what it sounds like. Users are told to plug a phone charger partially into the wall and then touch something metal to the charger prong. This will obviously cause an electric shock. You and I both know that, but a child may not have that same common sense.
As I've mentioned earlier, dangerous "trends" like this have sadly become common on the app. As a TikTok user, I love the app for entertainment purposes. But incidents like these make me weary about it. I know there's no way the app can monitor every single video (although they do supposedly put videos under review before they're made public).
I also don't currently have any kids, but I worry about what other crazy things will be out there by the time I do have my own children.
The best way to make sure your kids stay safe while using TikTok or any other social media app is to monitor them. I know the app does have child safety features for different age groups, so make sure those are set up on your kid's profile before they use it.
