The National Football League announced Sunday evening, in a press release, that Madonna will perform at halftime of the Super Bowl on Feburary 5, 2012, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The league has called recent halftime events "the most-watched musical event of the year," with over 162 million people tuning in just last year.

Madonna follows up recent performers such as the Black Eyed Peas and Usher. Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Prince, and The Rolling Stones have all performed since the controversy of Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson in '04.

Is Madonna the right choice? Are you excited for the halftime show? I would say that I'll be too into the first half of another Giants Super Bowl to care, but my team hasn't won a game in a month.
