Love him or hate him, its hard' not to respect Norm Macdonald for how he handled his last appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman.

With Dave's last show coming up in a few days, Norm used his stage time to give thanks for everything Dave did for his career, as well as just being a great influence.

It didn't take long before he got a bit choked up on stage, but he managed to get through his tribute to a standing ovation.

Norm told the story of the first time he'd seen Dave perform, and his favorite joke from that set. He then became more somber, telling Dave that he loved him.

It really was the perfect ending to the show. I mean, how do you follow that?!?
