New Jersey officials have started the nation’s largest single-state solicitation of offshore wind projects.

Offshore wind farm developers will be able to submit applications until December 28th, and the Board of Public Utilities will respond by July 1, 2019.

Governor Murphy's administration has announced a goal to use wind power to generate 3,500 megawatts (which would be enough to power over 1.5 million homes) by 2030. The governor also aims to have a 100-percent clean energy state by 2050.

What do you think of these plans to rely on wind power? People love to gripe about the windmills ruining their view at the beach, but most of these turbines are built miles away from the coast, so something as slim as that type of fan will be barely visible. I'm all for renewable resources, so bring on the wind!
