NJ Launching Drones To Enforce Social Distancing
Because people continue to gather in large groups, one NJ town has decided to take to the skies to try to disperse crowds.
The Elizabeth Police Department showed off their police drone that they will use to hover above large crowds, hopefully dispersing them with just a siren, but also pointing out they will issues summonses with fines up to $1,000.
While I agree that people breaking quarantine and hanging out in groups is stupid and will only make this entire situation go longer...I'm really not a fan of opening the door to drone surveillance. I know people can make the argument of "if you're not doing anything wrong, you don't have to worry", but there's just something way too Big Brother about a drone hovering over my yard to make sure I'm obeying.
Also, I hope the drones aren't expensive, because it's going to take about twelve seconds before they get shot out of the sky.
