So here's a fun fact for you; my legal name is Buehler.

It's not something I made up, it's not a clever nickname or anything like that.

Nope, it's on my birth certificate, NJ driver's license, and my Shop and Stop club card.

Of course, when your name is Buehler, you can't really go too long without hearing that iconic line Bueller, Bueller, Bueller.

Fortunately, I still think that's hilarious and it never gets old.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a John Hughes classic, and a movie that I think never gets old.

So, imagine my surprise when I saw that NJ.com and Deadline reported that there was a spinoff for the 1986 "hooky hit" in the works.

Now, you may not find Ferris, Cameron, or Sloane on some crazy escapades in this spinoff but you will meet a few new characters.

Deadline reports that New Jersey-born producers Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald will be telling the story of the two valets, who took Cameron Frye's dad's Ferrari out for a joy ride.

At first, I read that and thought it seemed like a money grab.

Do we really need the story of what these two unnamed valets did while Ferris was leading a parade?

But then I think this has some real Back to the Future Part II vibes; what type of fun shenanigans can these two get in while everything else that takes place during Ferris Bueller's Day Off is happening?

The original valets were played by Richard Edson and Larry Jenkins, who passed away in 2019.

The working title, according to Deadline is Sam and Victor's Day Off and there is no set release date.

I seldom need an excuse to watch a John Hughes film, but this seems like a good reason to go ahead and re-watch Mathew Broderick doing his thing.

By the way, those New Jersey-born producers working on this new film are also the showrunners and creators of the Netflix series Cobra Kai, according to Deadline, which brings a new perspective to the Karate Kid.
