Let's hear it from the beer crowd, Jersey!

I was on vacation in Virginia with the family last week heading to the beach, visiting some historic sites and hallowed grounds, going to Busch Gardens and hitting the pool to work on my form.

At times, when we wanted to do different things, our group split up and a couple of us went to a trio of breweries in Virginia and the Williamsburg Winery (which was pretty cool as well, great flight of red wine there consisting of a 2019 Wessex Hundred Petit Verdot, 2017 Gabriel Archer Reserve, 2017 Virginia Trianon and a 2017 Adagio).

I tried all different kinds of beers just to try the kinds of drinks I haven't had before or new variations of them.

I even ended one stop by having a Ghost Pepper beer!

That one was smooth on the way down but even the aftertaste where you felt the smoky burn in the throat, wasn't all that bad.

We visited Brass Cannon Brewing in Williamsburg where I had the Ghost Pepper beer but prior to that had a flight that featured 'Passion Project', 'Muzzle Flash', 'Dragon Vigor' and 'Feelin Blue', all pretty good.

The next stop was the Virginia Beer Company where I had 'Elbow Patches Oatmeal Stout', 'Wendy Peffercorn Wit', 'Morning Ritual IPA' and 'All-Star Cream Ale'

Aleworks was the final stop featuring a flight of 'Dark Forest', 'Lover's Greed', 'Troublesome Full Moon' and 'Superb IPA'.

I am in no way a beer expert or anything and rarely drink in general, but I enjoy trying new beers every once in a while, that way I can find out what else I may like.

It did get me thinking though of the beers I sampled in VA and ones I've had here in New Jersey.

We have a bunch of breweries with some Jersey made beer right around the corner.

Do we have a better selection in terms of taste and quality than other states? That's for you to decide.

Here are some of the breweries we have to visit here in New Jersey though, so go out with a Designated Driver, and get a beer flight of your own.

Remember though, always have a Designated Driver and Don't Drink and Drive.
