New Jersey Air National Guard Conducting Night-Flying Training
Last week as I ran some errands around Manahawkin, I kept hearing a loud rumbling from the sky. It didn't quite seem like thunder - even though there was a lot of cloud cover - but I couldn't see any planes around.
The noise was loud enough to hear in the stores as I shopped, and as I was walking back to my car I finally saw two fighter jets screaming across the sky. I'll be honest, with the climate of the world today, my first thought of "hey that's cool" lasted about half a second before I thought it might be the end of the world.
As far as I know, the world hasn't ended (yet) so I assume it was just another training exercise.
For the next few nights of this week, and a few nights next week, New Jersey Air National Guard’s 177th Fighter Wing will be conducting night-flying training.
Just a heads up, if you hear fighter jets screaming over your house at night, it's just a drill (hopefully).
