Lookout New Jersey, If Your Cars Too Loud It May Mean Jail Time
Have you ever been sitting in your backyard, or enjoying some time outside only to hear a vehicle drive down the road that's so loud it sounds like it's driving through your house?
Where my wife and I live, our street is one of a few main roads and we get a lot of traffic going down our street.

A lot of times, it sounds like the cars are driving right through our bedroom with how loud the exhaust system is.
There's now a bill circulating around Jersey that could send people who drive vehicles that are too loud and have modified exhaust systems to jail.
A New Bill Could Mean Jail Time For NJ Drivers With Loud Cars
Personally, I think this is a little much.
I mean, I get as annoyed as the next person when a car drives past me on the road and it's so loud I can't focus on anything, but I don't think jail time is the right answer either.
According to APP, legislation introduced into the Senate and Assembly would see that people who modify their vehicles to make them louder would be subject to a $500 fine or up to 30 days of jail time.
There's a similar bill in California that can fine drivers between $25 and $1,000 for cars that make sounds 95 decibels and above, but it doesn't include jail time.
If this bill were to pass in Jersey, I feel like it would be a challenge to uphold, what if your car already has modifications to make it louder? Will you have a chance to muffle your vehicle before getting a large fine or jail time?

Would there be a strike system or something in place for divers?
And how would "loud" be measured? What one person thinks is loud may not seem loud to someone else.
By the way, Jersey has some pretty wild laws.
