Jon Bon Jovi Announces His Own Brand of Wine
Jon Bon Jovi and his son Jesse have collaborated on a family brand of wine, which will be launched later this month.
Named Diving Into Hampton Water, the rose was produced in association with top French winemaker Gerard Bertrand and will retail at $25 a bottle.
“It’s a favorite in our household because you can drink it starting with lunch and into the evening, and we enjoy lots of it whenever we travel,” Bon Jovi told The New York Times, before elaborating on his love for the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France, where the grapes for the wine were grown. “It’s a storybook area with castles and ruins and rolling hills, and I really loved the architecture – the medieval castles were in such good shape. Also, you’re not really going to find any chain restaurants there. We dined at all tiny, family-run places, and I ate a lot of seafood, especially shellfish. Americans haven’t discovered this part of France yet, and it was a pleasure to discover. Growing up in New Jersey, I’ve been preaching my whole life that you have to get out to find the beautiful places in this world.”
The wine is named after the Bon Jovi family home in Main Beach in East Hampton. “[W]e’re out in the ocean and on the sand every day,” the singer said. “The Hamptons is an outdoor life – we go on beach walks, and I’m an avid runner. I also go bicycling.” In a separate announcement he noted, “Creating this wine with Gerard was just as creative as collaborating with another songwriter, Gerard uses his talents and wine knowledge just like a gifted musician. And working with my son on this has been an amazing experience.”
Diving Into Hampton Water has a Twitter account, which included a brief exchange with Bon Jovi last week. I“We’re 29 minutes away from the first glass of Hampton Water of the night. … What are all of you doing tonight?” the singer was asked. “Already poured mine," he replied. "Can’t wait until you all have a chance to enjoy Hampton Water.”
Bon Jovi and his band will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in April, while their latest tour in support of their 13th album, This House Is Not For Sale, begins in March.
