ESPN is reporting that the New York Yankees have mutually agreed to part ways with manager Joe Girardi.

I will admit that after the replay fiasco against Cleveland, I was calling for Girardi's head. Once I calmed down, I was level-headed enough to understand that one mistake shouldn't really cost a guy his job. If that blunder had cost the Yanks that series, I would have still been mad, but wouldn't have minded if Girardi stayed. Since they managed to come back an win that series, I really thought the team would bring him back for at least one year.

Popular candidates include Yanks' bench coach Rob Thomson and first base coach Tony Pena. If I had any say, I'd like to keep it internal; with such a young team, stability in the leadership staff is important to develop players like Judge, Sanchez, and Severino.

Of course, I'd also just like to let the Yankees know I'm available for the position.
