Janis Joplin had a song written for her just before she died and the original Broadway cast album of "A Night with Janis Joplin" has included "I'm Gonna Rock My Way to Heaven".

First, happy belated birthday in rock heaven to Janis, who would have turned 71 years old yesterday, born January 19, 1943 in Port Arthur, Texas.

As reported at rollingstone.com January 17th:

In tandem with today's digital release of the original Broadway cast album of A Night With Janis Joplin, Rolling Stone is premiering "I'm Gonna Rock My Way to Heaven," a song originally written for the singer shortly before her death in 1970.

The song was written by producer Jerry Ragovoy and is brought to life by the acclaimed Mary Bridget Davies, who is seemingly taken over by Joplin's soul in the show.

The full album will be available on CD on February 11th.

The show opened at the Lyceum Theatre in Manhattan on October 10th.
