Speeding driver causes two car crash on Route 37 in Toms River, NJ, police say

A Toms River woman was issued several citations following a two car accident on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said that 36-year old Daniella Ippolitto of Toms River was speeding while driving west on Route 37 near Hooper Avenue around 12:30 pm and then lost control of her SUV while trying to change lanes and ended up crashing into a vehicle stopped at a red light.
After coming in contact with the other vehicle, Ippolitto then crashed into a traffic signal causing it to fall onto the road and close an eastbound lane of Route 37.
The 19-year old driver in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries, according to police, and Ippolitto was brought down the road to Community Medical Center for treatment of her own injuries.
Following the initial investigation of the accident, police issued Ippolitto citations for careless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, and reckless driving.
The Route 37-Hooper Avenue car accident remains under investigation.
