🏖 Point Pleasant Beach Offshore Grand Prix taking place weekend of June 9-11

🏖 There are a ton of special events held on Friday and Saturday before race day

🏖 Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul Kanitra shares some history of event

It's a sight and sound like no other.

Each and every year around this time, hundreds of boaters and others gather to participate in or watch in awe of some impressive display of power in the water.

The 2023 edition of the Point Pleasant Beach Offshore Grand Prix takes place this coming weekend June 9, 10, and 11 in the borough and in the Mansquan Inlet.

These speed and pontoon boats are so incredibly fast (I know from experience -- see 2021 video below) and it takes a lot of training and skill to operate them.

It's a lot of fun to watch these boats take off in a race too!

Kanitra joined us on Shore Time with Vin and Dave on 94.3 The Point on Sunday morning, sponsored by Shoreline Wealth Management, to discuss some of the fun details as well.

This is always a fun filled weekend of great events to get you pumped up for the races themselves on Sunday.

On Friday, the Pit area will open up and there will be a block party.

On Saturday, you can see the boats in the Pit Area that'll be open in the train station parking lot along Arnold Avenue and you can buy official race t-shirts and programs.

In addition, you can watch the parade of boats from Arnold Avenue to Ocean Avenue to Inlet Drive starting at 5:00 pm and there will also be a battle of the bands taking place.

On Sunday, it's race day which you can watch in-person or online if you can't make it out.

You can listen to Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul Kanitra discussing the 2023 Offshore Grand Prix on Shore Time with Vin and Dave, at the 10:42 mark below.
