The Ocean County St. Patrick's Day Parade in Seaside Heights started in the early 1980s when a small group of residents and Irish-American groups wanted to celebrate their heritage and bring a little life to the Jersey Shore before the busy summer season. What began as a modest community parade has grown into one of the biggest St. Patrick’s celebrations in the state.
Today, thousands of people line the streets each year to watch marching bands, bagpipers, Irish dancers, and colorful floats as the parade rolls through town, celebrating Irish pride and kicking off the spring season at the shore.
How Many People Celebrate St.Patrick's Day?
Every year, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by millions of people around the world. In the United States alone, roughly 60–65 million Americans say they take part in some way, whether that’s going to a parade, wearing green, enjoying Irish food, or gathering with friends and family.
The holiday started as a celebration of Irish heritage, but today it’s marked in many countries, making it one of the most widely celebrated cultural holidays globally.
