"There are 13 marked trails within the forest. 10 trails in and around the Lake Absegami Day Use Area and 3 trails are multi-use."
On this visit, we did a combination of the Absegami Trail and the Poppy Allen Trail. Located just by the "Forest Office" is the Absegami Trail (White/Silver) and it's a nice short hike (0.4 miles) complete with an elevated boardwalk through wetlands to keep you dry while observing the "Pinelands". The Absegami Trail connects to the "Yellow Trail", the Poppy Allen Trail (3.1 miles). In all, we did approximately 4 miles. The trail is easy and clear and well marked.
There is plenty of parking at Bass River State Forest with restrooms and there are signs, maps, and trail pamphlets available so you won't get lost. The trail maps are available at the Forest Office free of charge. We enjoy Bass River State Forest it is well-maintained and there are plenty of trails to enjoy for both two-legged and four-legged hikers :)
