Have you ever stumbled across a place and wondered, "How did I not know this was here?" That's exactly how we felt after our first visit to Deep Cut Gardens in Middletown. It's one of those hidden New Jersey gems that's been right in our backyard all along, and we're so glad we finally found it.

Deep Cut Gardens is part of the Monmouth County Park System, and it's a beautiful spot to spend a relaxing afternoon. The colorful gardens are in full bloom this time of year, and there's always something new to see as you wander the walking paths.

Deep Cut Gardens has come a long way over the years. What started as farmland eventually became a beautiful private estate before being donated to the Monmouth County Park System in the late 1970s.

Today, it's one of those hidden New Jersey gems where you can enjoy colorful gardens, a greenhouse, and peaceful walking paths. It's a great place to slow down and spend a relaxing afternoon.

One of my favorite stops was the greenhouse. From vibrant orchids to unique cacti and so many other beautiful plants, it's a must-see. If you enjoy taking pictures, don't forget your camera because you'll find plenty of great photo opportunities throughout the gardens.

The park covers about 54 acres, so there's lots of room to explore. There are also picnic tables, making it a perfect place to pack a lunch, slow down, and enjoy a nice day outdoors with family or friends.

The best part? Admission is completely free. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway without leaving New Jersey, Deep Cut Gardens is definitely worth adding to your list.

You'll find Deep Cut Gardens at 152 Red Hill Road in Middletown. For more information, contact the Deep Cut Gardens Horticultural Center at (732) 671-6050.
