Passing by a gas station today on the way to work, let us know what the prices are and where the cheapest gas prices are, right now.

I know I'm not the only one noticing gas prices going up in New Jersey.

As gas prices increase, the national average for the first week of March is $2.72. That's up compared to last year. It's the most expensive daily national average since August 2019, according to AAA.

New Jersey's average price for regular gas is a little over $2.80, according to AAA. When I fill up I use regular but if you use midgrade gas, the average is $3.17 and premium gas is going for $3.35.

The highest gas prices, according to the AAA report, are in California with the average gas price is $3.68. Very close to California are Hawaii, Washington, and Nevada, gas is $3 per gallon.

The reason for the gas increase, in the AAA report, the winter ice storm that basically shut Texas down and other states just a couple of weeks ago. Hoping for no hurricanes, "March could bring the most expensive pump prices of 2021", says a AAA spokesperson.

Here at the Shore, I feel gas prices jump up around Memorial Day Weekend. Summer gas prices, to me, always seem higher than the winter.

There are several places on the internet or apps for your smartphone on where to find the cheapest gas prices where you live. Most just ask for your zip code within 5 or 10 miles.

Where are the cheapest gas prices you've seen recently in Ocean County?
