The acclaimed musician turns 66 years old today.

Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, but mainly a celebrated guitarist, Gilmour was born David Jon Gilmour on March 6, 1946 in Cambridge, England.

His brilliant and emotive playing as lead guitarist for Pink Floyd and as a solo artist is well recognized.

Some guitarists are flashy and fast with their technique, but Dave has always been deeply expressive and unpretentious.

His playing is sensitive and passionate, with just a few notes, but a plethora of string bends and slides; smooth, melodic, entrancing.

Let's let David take us on a nice little excursion into heart and soul now with this live version of the instrumental track, "Marooned", off The Floyd's 1994 album, The Division Bell.  This stunning song won a grammy in 1995.
