John Paul Jones turns 66 today, born January 3, 1946 in Kent, England.

Best known as the bassist, mandolinist and keyboardist for Led Zeppelin, he also plays guitar, koto, lap steel guitar, autoharp, violin, ukulele, sitar, cello, continuum and recorder, plus banjo, harp, clarinet, and any other instrument you can possibly think of or, in fact, make up.  Okay, maybe he doesn't play the french horn.  Let me double check that.

Jones is currently with Them Crooked Vultures, along with Dave Grohl and Josh Homme.  When asked in an interview in 2009 if Zeppelin would play together again one day, he responded: "I shouldn't think so. Robert has stated he doesn't want to do it anymore and that's it, really."

Let's just hope he's not as good at predictions as he is at playing a thousand instruments....
