Garbage truck driver partially ejected from vehicle on Route 70 in Lakehurst

Lakehurst Police said that they are investigating the cause of a single motor vehicle crash that occurred on Route 70 in the borough on Wednesday afternoon.

A pair of police officers and a Detective responded to Route 70 in front of the Express Motel and saw a fully loaded Little Egg Harbor Township garbage truck on its side in the middle of the road.

Once they were able to assess the scene, police said they were able to determine that the driver of the truck was heading east on Route 70 when the garbage truck overturned onto the driver side after leaving the Eisenhower circle.

Lakehurst Police said that the driver of the vehicle, 44-year old Michael Glock, was partially ejected from the windshield of the truck.

He ended up being airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment.

Lakehurst Police said that they were assisted at the crash site by the Lakehurst Volunteer Fire Department, Lakehurst Public Works, Joint Base Fire Department, Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Manchester Township EMS, Manchester Township Fire Department, RWJ Paramedics, RWJ Medivac, Berkeley Hazmat, NJDOT diversion team and Accurate Towing Service.
