Fire Damages Shop At Historic Smithville Village

If you've never been to Historic Smithville, it's a nice little place to visit on the weekend. It's full of tiny shops and restaurants, and hosts tons of festivals like Italian Fests, Irish Fests, Zombie Walks, and their Holiday Light Show.

Tragedy was avoided yesterday when firefighters were able to put out a fire in one of the shops before it spread to other buildings.

Smoke was seen billowing from Through The Looking Glass at around 10am, and by 10:30 the fire was under control.

While the surrounding buildings were evacuated for safety, authorities said the fire didn't do any damage. Through The Looking Glass will remain closed while investigators try to determine the cause of the fire, but the rest of Smithville will be open.
