Don Pardo, the Voice of Saturday Night Live, Dead at 96
Pardo, who worked for NBC for seventy years, passed away late Monday night.
Pardo joined SNL as an announcer for the show's first episode in 1975, missing just the seventh season,and a handful of episodes last year due to a broken hip.
"Every year the new cast couldn't wait to hear their name said by him," Lorne Michaels told the New York Times.
The show celebrated his 90th birthday with a live tribute in 2008.
Although he retired in 2004, he continued to record the SNL intros from his home in Arizona.
