A lot of people are trying to make some money during this pandemic. So many small businesses are being forced to close, but bills still have to be paid.

People are turning to deliver food for restaurants whether it be direct from the restaurants or working for companies like DoorDash or UberEats.

Unfortunately, there are some bad people out there who are preying on those who are struggling just to make ends meet.

There have been a few occasions in Ocean County where delivery drivers have had their car stolen while making a delivery which turns out to be fake.

Car thieves would call a restaurant to place an order to an address that they don't live at. They would hide in a spot close to the house the delivery is going to. Once the driver pulls up and gets out of the car to walk up the front door of the house, the thieves would run out of hiding, jump in the car and take off.

This all happens in a matter of seconds because the delivery drivers left their car running!!

It is totally understandable that this happens because the drivers walk away from their car for just a moment so they don't even think of shutting it off.

We are all guilty of doing it at one point or another when we run into Wawa or any store for a minute it of two, so we can not judge.

It's a shame that they have to also worry about this too when they are just trying to earn a living, but for now on...

Turn off your car when making any type of delivery to someone's house!!
