Danny DeVito has procured the screen rights to the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Toms River: A Story of Science and Salvation by Dan Fagin.

The book won the 2014 General Nonfiction Pulitzer, telling the story of the families who suffered after chemical companies poisoned the water in Toms River. The story is all too familiar for those of us here in Ocean County; after spending so many years working with Ocean of Love, it makes things even more personal.

The Deadline article says that DeVito's film company, Jersey Films 2nd Avenue, will produce the film. It's too early to know if it will be a documentary or a based-on-a-true-story version (a la Erin Brockovich (which was also produced by DeVito)), but we'll be sure to get you updates whenever we can.
