I’ll be the first to admit I don’t understand a lot of things.  Politics, religion, the stock market, music, crypto currency, fashion, you name it.  About the only thing I really do understand is sports but certainly not all of it.

If you’ve been following me for a while there is a pretty good chance you have disagreed with my opinions on things and that’s fine.  Many of my thoughts are generational and since most of you are younger than me there is a good chance you have a different viewpoint.

With that said and with no malice intended I don’t know if there is anything I understand LESS than tattoos.  At no point in my life have I seriously thought about getting one although I went with a couple of close friends when they got a tattoo in the mid 1970’s and it crossed my mind for about 15 seconds.

When I said I don’t understand the craze over body art I should be a bit more specific.  Yes I do see why someone might get a small one on their shoulder, forearm or calf with something that is meaningful.  Frankly what I’m confused about is those who cover large parts of their body with a variety of tattoos.  Everyone has different opinions on what looks good but I simply can’t believe that ink on a good portion of your body is generally considered attractive, especially for women.

Of course I have to recognize that those who do so probably get as many compliments from other tattoo fans as they do weird stares from people like me.  I also always wonder what some of these people will look like in their 60’s, 70’s and 80’s when years of sun along with stretching and sagging come into play.

At the end of the day beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there are many who love the way tattoos look.  To each his/her own.
