Another Toms River, NJ Business Seems To Have Met An Unfortunate Fate
The rumor mill is once again swirling, and I'm just trying to find a couple of possible answers.
The restaurant business is a tough one to be in both as an employee and an owner, but it seems like lately more and more restaurants and eateries are closing their doors.
The other month I told you about Bills BBQ Shack in Bayville having an auction after that place shuttered its doors.
More recently we looked into what was going on with Chomp! off 37 in Toms River and whether they were moving locations or actually going out of business.
And now it looks like another local business right here in Toms River is going away.
This first came to my attention the other night when I saw a post in the Toms River & Neighbors Community Forum.
The post asked if anyone knew what was going on with a local sandwich shop on 37, Facebook user Michael John West said he saw the lawn tables in the trash.
Personally, I didn't find this too alarming at first.
It's headed into the winter and lawn furniture isn't really something people use this time of year.
My first thought was that they're getting rid of old furniture and maybe getting some new stuff closer to the summer.
Then I saw another Facebook user say that this place actually closed up a few months ago!
Again, that could just mean some sort of remodeling but I decided to just drive over to this place myself to check it out.
What I found was not a great sign.
When I got there, I saw the lawn tables broken down and by the side of the road, and when I walked over to the shop itself the windows were boarded up.
Finally, after looking the business up on Google it came up displaying the words 'Permanently Closed'.
It appears as though Couple House Subs off Route 37 is closed.
Although it's sad to see a local business go, it begs the question "what next?"
Couple House Subs was right off a busy part of 37 near Tennyson Avenue.
I saw someone on Facebook say that an ice cream shop/cafe would be opening up, I think it would be cool to have a used bookstore open up but that's just me.
What do you think would make a good addition to the area?
In the meantime, if you're not sure where to go for lunch today New Jersey is home to some amazing sandwich shops!
