Charity Hockey Game Will Benefit Berkeley EMT
On January 5th, the Toms River Blackhawks will take on the Jersey Shore First Responders at Winding River Ice Rink. The game will be a benefit for Berkeley EMT Megan Franzoso.
On Friday, September 14, 2018, Franzoso went into cardiac arrest for 45 minutes while at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. Once a pulse was returned, Megan was flown to Temple University Medical Center in Philadelphia where she was in critical condition and spent time on life support in a medically induced coma. Megan was recently moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation center where she will spend some time learning how to walk and talk again. Franzoso has a long and very costly road ahead of her, and it's expected that her medical insurance coverage will end before her need for care does, especially because of the level of care she has been receiving.
Doors open at the rink at 6pm, and the puck will drop at 7pm. Tickets are $10 for Adults, $5 for Students (with school ID), and Kids 12 & Under are free. All donations will go to support Megan.
