Car Crashes Through Toms River Diner
Toms River Police are investigating an accident involving a vehicle that drove through the front window of Poppy's Place, a diner at 290 West Water Street. The two people in the car didn't suffer any major injuries, and no one in the restaurant was hurt.
The driver was parking and mistakenly put his foot on the gas rather than the brake. The accident occurred around 2:15pm, and the diner closes at 3pm. Owner Tina Parziale said the customers were regulars who always came around that time, and are usually some of the last customers of the day.
"We'd been busy all day," she said. "We constantly had people in. Weekends are always busy, but by 2 or 2:15, a lot of people are gone and you might get stragglers."
The Asbury Park Press has video of the aftermath from Poppy's Place:
Poppy's Place took to Facebook to let patrons know they were back in business the next day.
