The Brick Police Street Crimes Unit continues to sweep up the streets in town of drugs, particularly heroin of late, from having any more reach.

Chief James Riccio announced the results of recent sweeps, including one on Tuesday, all near the Wawa on Brick Boulevard.

Detectives and the SCU conducted a motor vehicle stop earlier this month after witnessing a motor vehicle violation.

Sgt. Paul Catalina and his K9 partner, Duke, backed up Detectives as well who, through combined efforts, found quantities of controlled dangerous substances and paraphernalia.

All three people in the vehicle were arrested.

The driver, Kyle Fisher, 30, Manchester, was charged with possession of heroin, hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia, in addition to several motor vehicle summonses.

Jordan Scott, 28, Barnegat, was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, hypodermic syringes, drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and throwing debris from a motor vehicle.

William Barbato, 42, Howell, was charged with possession of heroin, hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia

They were all processed and released on a summons.

On Tuesday, SCU detectives saw another vehicle in the parking lot in the back of Wawa.

Alba Lekaj, 23, Beachwood, was the driver who Detectives observed snorting a bag of what they suspected to be a controlled dangerous substance.

An on-scene investigation led them to find torn wax folds of heroin inside the vehicle.

Lekaj was placed under arrest for possession of heroin and a hypodermic syringe, was processed and released on a summons charging her with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, paraphernalia, a hypodermic syringe, failure to turn over a controlled dangerous substance to police, and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, an addition to motor vehicle summonses.

"The Brick Township Police Department remains committed to being proactive in the fight against criminal drug activity and any behavior that would otherwise disrupt the quality of life of our citizens and of those who visit our town," Chief Riccio said in a statement.
