Brick Police arrest five Jersey Shore residents as crack, heroin rear their ugly head

The Brick Police Street Crimes Unit has been among the top tier in cracking down on narcotics distribution in their community as law enforcement from local to state to national work on preventing this type of activity.

Five more people have been arrested for their roles in separate drug deals in Brick.

Police Chief Riccio issued a statement Thursday commending the work of the SCU and reminding all "would-be drug violators that the Officers of the Brick Township Police Department will continue to be diligent against the scourge of illegal drug activity upon our community."

Brian Vientos, 34, of Jackson was arrested on June 17 after SCU Detectives spotted him and Amanda Meklim, 34, of Jackson make a hand-to-hand deal in the Briar Mills Apartment Complex.

Detectives then found heroin, crack and drug paraphernalia.

Vientos was arrested and released on summonses, which included traffic citations for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle, and Careless Driving.

Meklim was also arrested and charged for possession of heroin, crack, prescription pills and paraphernalia.

She was released on a summons.

SCU Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Brick Estates on Hooper Avenue on June 22 and arrested Ryan Bannon, 39, of Neptune after finding crack and drug paraphernalia.

Bannon was charged with possession of crack, possession of paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle and driving without a license and was released on summonses.

SCU Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop on June 28 near the intersection of Brick Blvd. and Drum Point Road and discovered crystal meth which led to the arrest of Michael Stack, 56, of Bayville who was charged with possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle and failing to maintain his lane of travel and then was released on summonses.

SCU Detectives caught some suspicious activity in the parking lot of Walmart on Tuesday of this week and as their investigation led them to the discovery of Suboxone films that were illegally possessed.

Tracy Martin, 38, of Brick was then arrested, charged with possession of suboxone and was released on a summons.
