Brick, NJ man sentenced for calling in false bomb threats to Jenkinson’s Boardwalk offices in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ

The Brick Township man who called in bomb threats in consecutive days to the Jenkinson's Boardwalk offices in Point Pleasant Beach last summer has been sentenced to prison.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced Friday that Nkosi Jones, 20, to three years in New Jersey State Prison, which follows a previously entered guilty plea to Terroristic Threats.

The first bomb threat call came in around 1:15 pm on June 3, 2021, to the Jenkinson’s Pavilion Boardwalk Amusement offices with the caller stating he was going to plant a bomb on the boardwalk.

Jenkinson's staff relayed the caller's message to Point Pleasant Beach Police, and the boardwalk was then evacuated, for about three-hours as law enforcement investigated the threat and were able to give the all-clear.

On June 4, 2021, another bomb threat call came into the Jenkinson's offices, which led to a response by Point Pleasant Beach Police, an investigation, clearing of the boardwalk, and then a subsequent reopening of the boardwalk several hours later when an all clear could be given.

Point Pleasant Beach Police Detectives and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit learned through their investigation that Jones, who worked as an employee of Jenkinson’s Pavilion, made both of the threatening calls and was able to disguise his voice thanks to the voice over IP app, TextNow.

Jones was arrested on June 17, 2021 as he was reporting to work at Jenkinson’s.

He was then brought to the Ocean County Jail.

Jones was then released because of New Jersey's Bail Reform Law.

Prosecutor Billhimer announced that Ocean County Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Kristin Pressman, and Ocean County Assistant Prosecutor Shanon Chant-Berry handled the case on behalf of the State.
