Poison frontman Bret Michaels escaped serious injury after a scary highway incident in which his tour bus slammed into a group of deer. He was en route from Abilene, Texas, to Biloxi, Mississippi at the time.

"Except for some bumps and bruises, I am thankful there were no serious injuries," Michaels tells Celebuzz about the incident, which happened on June 21. "It is unfortunate for the deer, but thankfully due to modern RV technology and a steel firewall, we are all okay."

Michaels, who's overcome a series of recent health scares, is something of an expert on such things. His new original TV program 'Rock My RV with Bret Michaels' premiered on the Travel Channel last month. The 16-episode series follows the customization of aging RVs, which are re-designed under Michaels' direction.

Michaels underwent heart surgery in 2011. A hole in his heart was discovered after Michaels suffered a small stroke the previous May.
