Asbury Park film gets world premiere at Film Festival

Film maker Tom Jones visited with Tom Cunningham on Easter Sunday morning during 105.7 The Hawk's Bruce Brunch.

His film about the legendary Upstage Club in Asbury Park, Just Before The Dawn: Riot, Redemption, Rock & Roll, gets its world premiere at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park as part of the 2017 Asbury Park Music and Film Festival.

Jones, who has been working on the film since 2006, talks about the labor of love that is this movie, and the how's and why's, not to mention a Who's Who of the Jersey Shore music scene royalty who make appearances.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A and that's followed by what will be an incredible Jam, featuring Upstage regulars, E Streeters, and so much more. Under the direction of Jeff Kazee (Asbury Jukes bandleader), these (among others): Stevie Van Zandt, Southside Johnny Lyon, David Sancious, Ernest “Boom” Carter and Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez as well as, Sonny Kenn, Ricky DeSarno, Joe Petillo, Richard Blackwell, Albee Tellone, Chris Plunkett, Paul Whistler, Billy Ryan, Gerry Carboy, Tommy Labella and the Lakehouse Jr. Pros.
