Alice Cooper has long been avoiding what he says is "Celebrity Christianity", but he has decided to speak out about his faith.

As reported by classicrock.teamrock.com, as Vincent Furnier, he was raised in a Christian home: his father was a lay preacher in The Church Of Jesus Christ and his grandfather was an apostle there, and the future Alice Cooper was active in the faith in his pre-teen years before turning his attention to rock.

He returned to his faith after a battle with alcohol threatened his marriage in the late 80's.

He kept a low-profile about his faith because of course he was well-aware of the contradiction of his religious beliefs and his stage show.

These days he says he sees his stage persona now as “the prophet of doom,” telling people: “Be careful! Satan is not a myth. Don’t sit around pretending like Satan is just a joke.’ I think my job is to warn about Satan.”

A documentary on Alice's life and career was released earlier this year, called "Super Duper Alice Cooper"--preview, buy and download the movie at iTunes.
